3D BROW FAQ
1. What are 3D Brows?
3D Brow Sculpting or Micro-blading is a procedure in which organic pigment is applied into the uppermost layers of the skin to produce very realistic and semi-permanent hair strokes for individuals with hair loss or bald spots within the brows.
2. How long does it last?
Micro-blading lasts anywhere from 12-18 months on average after both applications. Most clients will schedule a yearly Boost appointment 12-18 months later.
3. Does it hurt?
Very simply, it is slightly uncomfortable. We do our best to make our clients as comfortable as possible by using two types of topical numbing agent that work very effectively to reduce discomfort.
4. How experienced is the technician?
Christina is a licensed tattoo artist and has been a certified micro pigmentation specialist for over 13 years with over 700 permanent procedures under her belt before deciding to only offer semi-permanent micro-blading moving forward. She then obtained her certification for Micro-blading in Jan of 2016 and since has had over 3000+ successful eyebrow sculpting procedures completed to date. She provides a 4 month hands-on apprenticeship program for her other licensed technicians before they are able to accept clients. We are OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Certified, fully licensed and insured as required by the State of Missouri.
5. How do you determine which color to use?
The color chosen for your procedure will be the closest match to your natural eyebrow hair color in order to produce the most seamless blend.
6. What if I am a blonde?
Good question! We will determine which level of blonde you are and what your desires are for your fill in. Most blondes fill in their brows much darker in order to add definition and shape. In this instance, we will suggest tinting the blond brows on an every 4 week basis in order to blend with the pigment color or choose a color which is lighter and would blend well with the natural brow.
7. How do you determine what shape to do?
We will take many measurements based on facial structure using the “Golden Ratio” method. This is the most accurate way to create a natural yet, shapely eyebrow based on each individual’s facial structure. We will then take into consideration what shape and thickness you
have in mind. Together, we will discuss the options and decide on the final shape.
8. What is the downtime?
After having the procedure you will be asked to avoid sweating for 3 days following. That includes working out, hot showers, hair dryers, ect. You will not be able to get them wet for 24 hours and will not be able to wash the brow area for 14 days. Washcloths and facial wipes are very handy during this time frame to cleanse your face around the brows. You will be asked to use an aftercare ointment on the brows for a consecutive 4-5 days that we will provide for you. It is advised to apply a thin layer of the ointment to the brows only 2x a day- morning and night. Sun and swimming will be prohibited for 2 weeks.
9. Where do I get the ointment?
You will be provided a packet to take home which will be just enough. You will also be provided after care instructions to take home.
10. How do I go about scheduling?
Once an available date is determined, we require a $100 deposit used towards your total in order to secure the dates. We would set up your initial application as well as the 4-6 week touch up appointment. The deposit is fully refundable if changes or cancellation need to be made 48 hours prior to your scheduled time. If 48 hours notice is not met, the deposit is non-refundable. You will receive a text message detailing your appointments once set and another text 2 days prior in which you are required to confirm by clicking the link provided.
11. How do I know if I am a good candidate and can I speak to the artist directly?
Yes, certainly! Our Microblading specialists offer complimentary consults that take 15-20min. At the consult you will meet with them and they can look at your skin and answer any further questions.
12. I have had my first application and the pigment is beginning to fade out. I have patches- is
Yes, it is 100% normal! Depending on how your skin heals, genetics, or aftercare you will experience 20-50% pigment loss on average after the first application. Between the first and second application it is completely expected that you will have to fill them in with brow powder to
get you by. That is why this is a two part process and requires a touch up application. It takes a total of 30 days for the skin to completely heal and reveal the pigment beneath the skin. The second application allows us to darken the color as need be, add to places that didn't take as well and finalize the finished product.
13. Why is the Micro-blading so natural looking and will I have to continue filling them in?
Micro-blading was created to be a semi-permanent solution for those individuals who did not want the look or longevity of permanent makeup. It is meant to look natural and you should be able to see the definitive strokes. That’s what makes it amazing! Remember, we are looking for improvement, not perfection. Micro-blading can be built upon at follow-up appointments and may require more than the first two applications, although rare. If you happen to be the person who enjoys a very dramatic and solid eyebrow, this procedure will not give you that. You will look great without makeup or very light makeup and may feel the need to fill them in upon creating a more dramatic
14. I love my brows but, after the first touch-up I would like to have another application done to fill in a few little spots?
Yes you can! Even though our client retention and healed outcomes are typically wonderful and as expected, there are circumastances that are beyond our control and we do no guarantee retention. Skin types, products your skin is exposed to, sun, skin cell turnover rate, medications, and genetics to name a few are instances that would cause this. Getting additional touch up applications will typically remedy this. A consultation appointment may be required to determine if this is necessary.
15. What is Blading & Shading and how does it differ from Microblading?
Semi-permanent Blading & Shading incorporates the very same Microblading technique but, adds an additional shadowing effect along with the hair strokes. This will create a much denser and fuller looking brow. Perfect for those that would like more of a fill in while still keeping a three dimensional look. Not sure if it's right for you? We do offer complimentary consults with any of our experienced technicians!

If you have any questions about these restrictions, please give us a call! We're happy to help.
It is very important that you do not let any water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch your eyebrow area during the first 14 days after your procedure.
For 5-7 days, make sure your hands are completely clean and gently apply the post-care ointment (Aquaphor ointment, grape seed oil or coconut oil). This can be done twice a day at morning and night time, but be sure to use the ointment sparingly as your skin needs to heal itself. Please continue to apply the ointment for 5 days.
The following must be avoided during all 14 days post-microblading procedure:
• Increased sweating - 3 days minimum
• Practicing sports
• Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi - 3 days minimum
• Sun tanning or salon tanning
• UV/UVA Rays or chemicals as they have been known to cause a shift in color and premature fading
• Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the face or neck
• Picking, peeling, or scratching of the micro pigmented area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment
• Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris
• Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds
• Driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles
• Touching of the eyebrow area except for when applying the post-care ointment with a cotton swab
Please wash your face carefully around the eyebrow without getting water on the treated area for 2 weeks. During the shower, keep your face away from the shower head or take a bath.
Itching and flaking may appear during the first seven days post-microblading procedure. However, experience has shown that by following these after-care instructions, these symptoms may quickly disappear. If you have any unexpected problems with the healing of the skin, please contact Wink iBoutique immediately, to discuss further instructions.
The entire healing process will take from 4-6 weeks depending on your body regeneration and age. Your new temporary eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle as outlined below.
The pigment will appear very natural looking immediately after the procedure. The color of the pigment will appear much darker the next couple of days. Note that because of natural skin regeneration, after recovery period (peeling), brows might appear lighter than original. This might give you the impression that color is fading too quickly. Often even with proper care, clients will develop bald spots or lose original hair strokes which make brows look uneven. It is absolutely normal. That’s is the reason why most clients will need a touchup after 4-6 weeks.
Once the healing of the skin starts taking place, it will look like dandruff flakes or dry skin. However, this is just superficial color and dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows. The final look of your eyebrows will be apparent approximately 30 days after your procedure.
Never rub the treated area as it will disturb the skin from natural healing.
Once completely healed (4 weeks), always apply a layer of sunscreen SPF 30 up to SPF 50 on your eyebrows when exposed to the sun. Sun exposure might cause the color pigment to fade away more quickly. When using foundation, be aware when applying to avoid your healed eyebrows. If foundation covers healed brows, your eyebrows will appear lighter.
You can now enjoy your beautiful new temporary eyebrows. You will simply love your new gorgeous fresh look!
